Last week Laura and Allison headed into the field to collect Vitis rupestris and sympatric congeners from natural populations. We collected on the way to Springfield, MO. Then, after an amazing goulash dinner at collaborator Laszlo Kovacs's home, we enjoyed another hot but productive day with Laszlo and grad students Daniel Pap (Missouri State) and Courtney Coleman (Univ. Missouri). Thanks to everyone for a great trip - hope we can do it again soon!
Rebecca Hensiek, a Photography Major studying at Webster University, is working as a Photography Intern in the Communications Department at the Missouri Botanical Garden (MBG) this summer. For her internship Rebecca is doing a photo essay on the research vineyard in the Kemper Home Gardening Center at MBG. I have posted some of her pictures below, and you can see more of her work at Rebecca Hensiek Photography. Rebecca is also skilled research assistant - although she met us at the grapevines to take pictures, she was a great help collecting samples! Thanks, Rebecca!Photographer Rebecca Hensiek
"My photo essay is a presentation over a part of the garden that is new this year. I will be teaching the communications staff about the grapes and give them the behind the scenes look at what goes on behind the experiment. The presentation will be over what they might not know how much effort goes into the area."
